Featured Wisteria Products: Ethiopian Nickel Silver Coptic Cross w1529
You probably already knew from looking at the rather eclectic mix of Wisteria products (sold online, in our catalog, and in our brand spanking new Wisteria Outlet), but we draw on a wide variety of influences. You can even see it in our reference library.
Picture a cozy retreat with wood-paneled walls and floor-to-ceiling bookcases and busts of famous composers. Okay, that’s not the library we’re talking about. Our floor-to-ceiling bookcases line a very busy hallway. So don’t curl up with a book there or you could get run over.
All the cool stuff can make it seem worth the risk though: everything from books about designers and architects and artists to what could very well be the world’s largest collection of vintage picture postcards showing wisteria vines.
Anyhow, from time to time we’re going to bring you a glimpse from this wonderful collection and let you in on another of our many sources of inspiration.
For starters, here’s one Andrew brought back from France: an eighteen-pound, leather-bound volume that’s stamped on the front in gold foil, “CARPEILL PARIS.” It’s full of pictures of furniture, labelled with numbers and prices. And not just regular pictures, but original photographic prints. Maybe an ancestor of the Wisteria catalog. Or maybe a salesman’s sample book. Back then everything was heavier.
Either way, it’s a mystery to us. Write and let us know if you have any idea.
